Walter Frederick Rembold was born Sunday, February 22, 1920 at Kaylor, South Dakota to Edward and Minnie (Konrad) Rembold. He attended school at Kaylor through the 10th grade. Walter was united in marriage to Viola Davis on June 10, 1945 at the United Methodist Church in Tripp. Following their marriage, they farmed one mile north of Kaylor for a few years. He purchased the hardware store in Kaylor, which burned down in 1960. After a short return to farming, Walter and Viola moved into Tripp in 1968, where Walter became custodian at the school and Viola worked with him part-time. He was custodian for the school for 25 years. Walter’s pastimes included hunting, fishing, golfing and gardening. He was a member of the Emmaus Lutheran Church. Walter passed away on Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Society of Tripp, having attained the age of 91 years, 2 months, and 3 days.
