The family of Virginia Mae Kasulka Carter Hamilton are mourning her passing on September 4, 2024. 

There will be a memorial service at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 305 W 25th ST, Yankton, on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 1 p.m.

Virginia was born on May 25, 1934 in Pukwana, South Dakota to Otto and Frieda (Wentland) Kasulka. She was the youngest of 5 children. She learned how to play the piano at a young age and was her Dad’s little angel. Shortly after her father’s passing, when she was 9, her family moved to Yankton, SD. She continued learning piano at Yankton College and played the Xylophone and French Horn in high school. She graduated Yankton High School in 1952. Virginia loved music and sang soprano in her Methodist Church Choir. She also loved to travel. She moved to Omaha, NE to attend an Airline School at night and worked for a lawyer during the day. After graduating Airline School, she worked at a bank in Omaha and later moved back to Yankton. She had many jobs, babysitting, waitressing and secretarial work. Virginia met Franklin Glenn Carter in 1955 and they married May 13, 1956. They have 5 children: Vickie Carter Lammers, Michelle Carter Alink (Dale), Calvin Carter (Amy), James Carter and Chris Carter (Becky). 

Virginia and Frank attended Trinity Lutheran Church where Virginia was secretary and Frank was custodian. Later she worked as custodian at Mount Marty College. She was named Citizen of the Year by KTIV television and Cookies BBQ Sauce, for her many charitable works.

Virginia and Frank divorced and then she met her love to the end, Don Hamilton. Don had 3 sons: Timothy (deceased), Donovan (Sherri) and Dallas (deceased). Don and Viriginia married February 14, 1987. They have been married for 37 years. 

Virginia has 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Her family will all miss her cards and letters for every occasion and hearing about her latest miracles. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Frieda Kasulka; brothers, Melvin Kasulka and Bud Kasulka; sisters, LaVonne Beers and BettyLou King.

Virginia’s first love was God. She was a true prayer warrior and dedicated her life to Jesus. Her family meant everything to her. She will be greatly missed.
