Viola Mary Rembold was born on Thursday, September 14, 1922 north of Kaylor, South Dakota to Charles and Alvena (Dockweiler) Davis. She graduated from Tripp High School in 1940 and attended Dakota Wesleyan College for two years. She taught school at Geddes for one year before her marriage to Walter Rembold on June 10, 1945 at the United Methodist Church in Tripp. Following their marriage, they farmed one mile north of Kaylor, where Viola was a hard-working farm wife and enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. In 1968, they moved into Tripp, where Walter became custodian at the school and Viola worked with him part-time. She was a member of the Emmaus Lutheran Church and the Emmaus Lutheran Women. Viola died on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Sanford USD Medical Center at the age of 86 years and 20 days.
Viola’s memory will be cherished by her husband , Walter Rembold of Tripp; three children: Linda (Dennis) Huber of Freeman, South Dakota, Norma (Terry) Garvey of Yankton, South Dakota, and Ed Rembold of Tripp; six grandchildren: Jon Huber, Steve (Maggie) Garvey, Brady (Jill) Muth, Lori (Toby) Aberle, Jodi (Loren) Garcia, and Garrett Rembold; five great-grandchildren: Colin, Hannah, Addison, Abby and Katelyn; daughter-in-law Karen Rembold of Spearfish, South Dakota; and two sisters-in-law: Helen Baltzer of Tripp and Anita Davis of Custer, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael, in 2006, one granddaughter, Heather, in 2002, her parents, and siblings Milo, Lela, Edna, Harry, Harvey, Irene, Julius, Harold, Francis and Leroy.
