Syrolla Haase

Syrolla Haase, 85, of Scotland, passed away on Friday, August 23rd at the Scotland Good Samaritan Center surrounded by her family.
Syrolla was born on February 27, 1934, to Paul and Rebecca (Weisser) Mehlhaff on the family farm in Hutchinson County. Syrolla was baptized and confirmed at the Freiden’s Reformed Church in Tripp, SD. She grew up in Parkston and graduated from Parkston High School.
Syrolla married her sweetheart, Marvin Haase, on September 28, 1954. Syrolla and Marvin enjoyed 63 years together as husband and wife. They lived on farms in the Scotland and Delmont areas before moving to her parents’ farm near Scotland. She enjoyed being a farm wife and mother to her three beloved children. Marvin and Syrolla retired from farming in 1998 and moved to Scotland. While living in town, they enjoyed visiting friends and playing pinochle. Syrolla loved baking, with her specialty being caramel rolls and kuchen. She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. She also had a collection of John Deere toy tractors and red depression glassware that she took pride in collecting. Syrolla was a member of Scotland Community Church Ladies Auxiliary, served on church committees, and volunteered in the community.
She is survived by her brother, Stanley Mehlhaff, Yankton; three children: Ken (Lori) Haase of Parkston, SD; Cindy (Mark) Coe of Grand Island, NE; and Jo Auch of Pierre, SD. She leaves behind two granddaughters, Laura Beth (Nick) Thomas, Harrisburg, SD, and Ashley (Andrew) Schrank, Dickinson, ND. Syrolla had three grandsons: Matt (Jenna) Coe, Grand Island, NE; Michael Coe, Grand Island NE; Kyle Auch, Menno, SD, and four loving great-grandchildren: Mason, Asher, and Max Thomas, and Madison Schrank.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin (2018), and her parents Paul and Rebecca Mehlhaff.
