Sidney Robert “Bob” Whitt III, age 65 of Scotland, died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Royal C. Johnson Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in Sioux Falls after a battle with lung cancer.
He leaves behind his wife, Cynthia Whitt; four sons: Sidney Robert Whitt IV, Jeff Whitt, Tyler Whitt and Trevor Whitt; six daughters: Donna Whitt, Brooke Whitt, Robin Henry, Marty Harris, Tracy Whitt and Jessica Monteforte; and eleven grandchildren: Courtney, Brittney, Chad, Bryce, Presley, Layla, Landen, Mackenzie, Lanie, Austin and Sienna.
Bob grew up in Charleston, South Carolina with his parents, Sidney Robert Whitt II and Margaret Rainwater Whitt, and brothers Steve, Wayne and Danny Whitt. He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce and served during the VietNam War. He worked as a truck driver for MCT for the past 26 years. He enjoyed watching sports, listening to A.M. talk radio and most of all, spending time with his family. He had a wonderful personality, great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He was always putting others before himself.
Private family services will be held on Sunday, October 4 at the Goglin Funeral Home in Scotland.
