Shirley Rose Dale

Shirley Rose Culver was born on November 2^nd, 1934 in Volin, South Dakota to parents, Cress and Selma (Fiedler) Culver. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Avon, South Dakota. She graduated school at Tyndall South on June 4^th, 1949. 

Shirley married Marvin (Mike) Dale on January 15^th, 1958. They spent many years in the trucking business, driving all over the United States. Shirley also learned to drive the 18-wheeler semi. Mike passed away on November 3^rd, 2012. Shirley lived in Tyndall, SD until October 2020. As her health was declining, Shirley decided to move to Dell Rapids, South Dakota at the request of her longtime friend and roommate, Judy Peters. Shirley drove Judy to the Vermillion Hospital in 1962, where she had a daughter, whom she named Shelli. Shirley helped take care of Shelli as a baby; and 60 years later, Judy and Shelli helped take care of Shirley. Many good times were had in the 3 short years Shirley lived in Dell Rapids.  She spent every Holiday, birthday and weekend family gathering with them, where she was considered family. 

Shirley passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Garretson nursing home on April 4^th, 2023, where she had been a resident one month due to her health. 

Shirley is survived by many nieces and nephews; many cousins; her bonus family, Judy Peters, Shelli Ybarra and their families and Buddy her faithful, loving fur baby, who now lives with Judy. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cress and Selma (Fiedler) Culver; her 7 brothers and sisters, Calvin, Elmer, Cress Jr., Priscilla, Doris, Dennis and Dural. 

At Shirley’s request there will be no service. She was cremated and will be reunited with her husband, where their ashes will be spread in some of their favorite places.
