Sherry’s Grandchildren
Sherry Ruby Roth was born on February 19, 1952 to Adolph and Laverna (Huber) Roth in Parkston, South Dakota. She was baptized in St. John Lutheran Church in rural Hutchinson county and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church in Scotland. Sherry spent her first five years of education attending rural grade school Fairview District #95. From the 6th grade to her graduation, she attended Scotland Public School.
Sherry spent the first 19 years of her life working on her dad’s family farm in the fields and with livestock. She had a great love and passion for the farm and land, and made many wonderful memories. She then spent another 22 years working on the farm as a farmwife and mother. Throughout her life, she also devoted numerous hours caring for and enjoying her garden.
Sherry attended Sioux Valley School of Nursing in Sioux Falls and graduated in 1974. From 1974 to 1978, she worked at Sioux Valley Hospital and 27 years for Landmann-Jungman Memorial Hospital in Scotland. Her final years of nursing were spent at Sanford USD Medical center from 2006 to 2015.
On June 11, 1971, Sherry was united in marriage to Don F. Fischer and to this union two sons were born, Corey and Jeff. On June 4, 1997, Sherry was united in marriage to Dr. Manuel Ramos.
Sherry passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota having attained the age of 63 years, 7 months, and 13 days.
Sherry is survived and remembered by her husband Dr. Manuel Ramos of Scotland; mother Laverna Roth of Scotland; son Corey (Jennifer) Fischer of rural Beresford and their children Tristan and Jett; son Jeff (Amy) of rural Olivet and Sioux Falls and their children Peyton, Mckenzie, and Mikhayla; brother Glenn (Gina) Roth and their son Max; brother Terry (Deb) Roth of rural Olivet and their children: Levi, Mariah, Sasha, and Cheyanne; and brother-in-law Jim Killeen of Anchorage and his children Joey and Kathy.
She was preceded in death by her father Adolph Roth, her grandparents, sister Sheila Killeen, and her aunts and uncles.
