Shawn Patrick Berrigan

Shawn Patrick Berrigan was born on February 10, 1980 to Donald and Jane (Weinandt) Berrigan in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1998, he graduated from South Lafourche High School in Galliano, Louisiana. In September 1998, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served until his honorable discharge in August 2004. For a time, he worked off shore for Edison Chouest at Port Fourchon, Louisiana. Shawn also worked at Pelican Point Golf Club in Gonzales, LA and later at the Tyndall Co-op. He became a pilot car escort and enjoyed driving all across the United States. On July 7, 2014, he was united in marriage to Tricia L. Szathmary in Tyndall, South Dakota.
Shawn was a jack of all trades who could fix anything. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
Shawn passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 at his residence in Tyndall, South Dakota having attained the age of 38 years, 8 months, and 12 days.
He is survived by his wife, Tricia L. Berrigan of Tyndall, SD; parents Donald (Jane) Berrigan of Gonzales, LA; daughter Abigail Berrigan of Osceola, IN; stepson Joe Szathmary of Tyndall, SD; stepdaughter Adrianna Petersen of Tyndall, SD; step-grandchildren: Elyna, Roan, and Freya; brother Colin Berrigan of Prairieville, LA; sister Tricia (Joe) Berrigan Jones of Prairieville, LA; five nieces and nephews: Gwendolyn, Amelia, Jaxon, Nathaniel, and Lillian; maternal grandmother Marie Weinandt of Yankton, SD; paternal grandfather Harold Berrigan of New Orleans, LA; and mother-in-law Barbara (Willie) Grant of Tyndall, SD.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Leo Weinandt, paternal grandmother Patricia Berrigan, aunt Jean Berrigan, and step-grandson Nyle Petersen.
