Sandra Kay Reiner was born on Sunday, October 25, 1942, at Parkston, South Dakota to Alvin and Eileen (Guthmiller) Reiner. She graduated from Tripp High School in 1961. She moved to California in the early 1970’s, when she worked as a civilian employee on Vandenberg Air Force Base near Lompoc, California. She later moved back to South Dakota. Sandra was a member of Frieden’s Reformed Church and served on Frieden’s Ladies’ Guild. She also volunteered at the Good Samaritan Society in Tripp and was active in the Tripp American Legion Auxiliary. Through the years, Sandra assumed the role of caring for her parents. She generously supported her parents during their later years, allowing them to continue their independence on the family farm. She was a loving aunt and loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. Due to health problems, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society of Tripp in February of 2010. Sandra passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 7 days.
Sandra is survived by three brothers and their families: Leon (Pat) Reiner of Tripp, Maurice (Connie) Reiner of Omaha, Nebraska, and Michael (Annie) Reiner of Tripp; one sister-in-law, Joanne Reiner of Freeman; and thirteen nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Alvin and Eileen Reiner, she was preceded in death by her brother, Glen Reiner, in 1989.
