Ruth Rose

Ruth Rose was born Thursday, November 6, 1924 to Carl and Susanna (Tschetter) Schmeichel in Dolton, South Dakota. She was one of the ten children born to the Schmeichels. Following her education, she married Edgar Rose, immediately taking on the tasks of a loving farm wife. The Roses raised three children, twin daughters Arlene and Irene along with their son Allen. Ruth was a wonderful baker, regularly making delicious homemade bread for her family. She handled the usual tasks of sewing, gardening and canning. When time allowed, she enjoyed doing crafts.

Rose was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and a Bible study group.

Ruth Rose passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, just 20 days following her 96th birthday.

Rose is survived by her son Allen (Tamara) Rose of Foley, Alabama; daughter Irene Hoadley of Mitchell, SD; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Susanna; her husband Edgar in 1990; her daughter Arlene; and all of her siblings, making her the last of the Schmeichel family.
