Rose Ann Petzoldt

April 5, 1929 — January 4, 2020

Rose Ann Freidel was born Saturday, May 4, 1929 in Lesterville to Albert and Rose (Novak) Freidel. She graduated from Yankton High School and received her BA degree in elementary education from Yankton College.
She married Marvin Petzoldt on September 23, 1948 in Lesterville. She taught at a number of rural schools and Lesterville Elementary School for a total of 35 years retiring in 1990. She was active in substitute teaching and volunteer work.
She was a member of St. George Catholic Altar Society, Senior Citizens, Good Samaritan Society Auxiliary and Scotland Preservation Commission.
She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary - serving three years as state commander.
She enjoyed traveling and attended 23 reunions of the Survivors of the USS Savannah (the ship her husband served on).
Survivors include two daughters and two sons: Darlene (Dan) Huntimer of Watertown; Deb (Paul) Dummer of Lesterville; Richard and Duane both of Scotland; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Marvin in 2013; her parents; two brothers; three sisters and one grandson.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established by the family.
