Rodney Paul Sexton was born on Thursday, March 1, 1951 at Mitchell, South Dakota to Melvin and Emma (Mueller) Sexton. He graduated from Scotland High School in 1969. He attended Mount Marty College in Yankton majoring in Biology and received his Bachelor’s degree in 1977. Rodney served as a paramedic in the U.S. Navy for six years and attained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He enjoyed reading the Bible, calligraphy, making furniture and listening to music. Rodney passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at his residence in Yankton at the age of 58 years.
Rodney is survived by one son, Samuel Carpitcher of Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Aubrianne Carpitcher, also of Oklahoma; his mother, Emma Sexton of Scotland; a brother, Craig (Mary Jo) Sexton of Monona, Iowa; two sisters: Beverly (Gary) Sexton-Rush of Sioux Falls and Sheila (Dan) Green of Savage, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rodney’s father preceded him in death.
