Robert Lee Pietz was born on Saturday, June 24, 1944 to Leo and Erna (Reimann) Pietz. He was baptized on September 10, 1944 by Rev. W. E. Odenbach in Frieden’s Reformed Church in Tripp, South Dakota, and later confirmed on March 22, 1959, by Rev. Theophil Blaufuss.
Robert attended Tripp Public School, and then began working on the family farm. He was a truck driver as well as raising cattle and hogs. He went to the Western College of Auctioneering in Billings, Montana and was an auctioneer for the remainder of his career.
Throughout the years he worked at Livestock Markets across the Midwest owning Tripp Livestock Market selling feeder pigs. He owned a clerking and auction service doing many household, land and farm auctions.
Robert was a longtime member of Frieden’s Reformed Church of Tripp. He was co-owner of Cookie’s Bar, and enjoyed being Santa Claus at Christmas for the area children. Robert was united in marriage to JoAnn R. Streyle in August of 1964 and two children blessed this union.
Robert became a resident of Majestic Bluffs in Yankton, South Dakota, in the Fall of 2019. It is there that Robert passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the age of 76 years 10 months.
Robert is survived by two children: Kim (Mike) Hargens of Stickney and Doug (Linda) Pietz of Huron; five grandchildren: Jordan (Mindy) Hargens, Layne Hargens, Katelyn (Patrick) Tschetter, Robert (Marissa) Pietz, and Tanner Pietz; and four great-grandchildren: Ryker and Ramsey Hargens and Isaac and Emma Tschetter. He is survived by two sisters: Janice (Kenneth) Young of Yankton and Sheree (Kenneth) Becker of Hartington, NE.
He was preceded in by his parents; one sister, Kay Eng; and one niece, Jodie.
