Robert “Bob” LaVerne Faas, Sr. was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1949 to Ervin and Mabel (Olson) Faas in Sisseton, South Dakota. He graduated from Sisseton High School in 1969. On March 16, 1968, he was united in marriage to Theresa Aadland in Sisseton. Bob worked as a city mail carrier in Sisseton for several years and went on to become the postmaster in White, South Dakota. In January 1987, he moved to Tripp, South Dakota to serve as the town’s postmaster. Bob retired in 2005 after working for the U.S. Postal Service for over 35 years.
Bob was a member of the Jaycees Organization and Friends and Neighbors Organization. He loved playing poker with his children and went on to teach his grandchildren the game as well. Bob loved singing karaoke with his family and even got the family their own karaoke machine. He also enjoyed camping and spoiling his beloved dog, Spots.
Bob passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota having attained the age of 67 years, 7 months, and 20 days.
He is survived and remembered by his wife Theresa Faas; children: Shelley (Tim) Lathrop, Robbie (Ginger) Faas, and Jamie Faas; grandchildren: Brittney Lathrop, Kyle (fiance Lexus Thorson) Lathrop, Anna Lathrop, Lyndsyae (Jamie) Sloan, Cody Faas, D.J. (Beth) Faas, Ashley Faas, Sami Faas, Morgan Faas, McKenzie Faas, and Madison Faas; great-grandchildren: Clara Sloan, Sadie Sloan, Rylie Faas, Hunter Faas, and Ryker Thorson; siblings: Ray (Judy) Faas, Jerry (Jan) Faas, and Carol (Jack) Fitz; and brother-in-law Mike Borgheiine.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Shirley Borgheiine.
