Ralph Bauder, age 77, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, of natural causes, at his home in Yankton.
Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, at Zion Lutheran Church in Scotland. Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. in the Tyndall City Cemetery.
Ralph was born May 24, 1945 to Edwin and Gertrude (Reichenberg) Bauder at Scotland, SD. He was a 1963 graduate of Scotland High School. He continued his education at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, where he earned a degree in mechanics. Following graduation he worked as a mechanic in Vermillion, SD for a few years. Ralph then transitioned to law enforcement and also worked as an EMT.
Ralph married Barbara Kaul, August 13, 1994 at Tyndall. They made their home at his farm northeast of Scotland. He began a 32-year career with the Bon Homme County Sheriff Department, beginning as a part-time deputy then working as a full-time dispatcher.
Ralph enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting trap with the Bon Homme Trap Club and BH County Izaak Walton League near Springfield. He had a huge interest in metal detecting and searching for fossils, when time allowed. Ralph also had impressive collections of coins and toy tractors.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Barb of Yankton; two brothers, Wilbur (Mary) Bauder of Scotland and Lloyd Bauder of Mitchell; two nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Shirley Bauder.
Floral tributes are included within the service program.
