Olga Mehlhaff

Olga Mehlhaff passed away Monday, December 9, 2024 at the Good Samaritan in Scotland at the age of 100 years and almost 9 months of age. 

Visitation will be held 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Scotland Community Church. Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Scotland.

Olga Wilhelmina (Fischer) Mehlhaff was born on March 23, 1924 in rural Menno, SD to Fred and Martha (Guericke) Fischer. She attended school in Menno through the 8th grade.

On March 5, 1950 she married Ruben Mehlhaff at Grace Reformed Church in Menno. Together they farmed northeast of Kaylor and were married for 69 years until Ruben's passing in 2019.

Olga spent most of her life as a farmwife, and occasionally stuck chislic for the Scotland Locker. She loved flowers and taking care of her grandchildren. She was an avid churchgoer and belonged to the Scotland United Church of Christ, now Scotland Community Church. She belonged to the Ladies Fellowship for many years. Olga will be remembered for her kind and caring personality. Rarely, if ever did she speak ill of anyone.

Survivors include her sons, James (Debra) Mehlhaff and Larry (Kay) Mehlhaff; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters and 1 brother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ruben; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; 2 brothers-in-law, and 1 sister-in-law.
