Neil Finck was born on July 2, 1926 on a farm near Tyndall, South Dakota to parents Fred and Lydia Finck. Neil married Jean Wiederrich on November 22, 1948. They were married for 69 years and became parents of two children, John and Lynn.
Neil was a farmer who spent most of his life farming just south of Tripp, South Dakota. He was also a member of the Friedens Reformed Church. Neil loved farming, fishing, and watching his two favorite sports teams, the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. Although several of his grandchildren did not approve of his football team of choice, that did not stop him from cheering them on. Neil entered the nursing home in December of 2017, and while there he enjoyed spending his time watching the Twins and Vikings games, as well as watching the finches around the nursing home eat from his bird feeder.
Neil passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society of Scotland, South Dakota at the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 10 days.
Neil is survived by his wife, Jean; son, John (Marla) Finck; daughter, Lynn Hoesing; and sister-in-law, Eileen Finck. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Neil is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Paul, Edward, Leo, Rueben, Leonard, and Herbert; sisters: Meta and Linda; and son-in-law, Steven Hoesing.
