Nadine Foley, age 86, of Scotland, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the Landmann-Jungman Memorial Hospital at Scotland. At Nadine's request, a private family funeral service will be held at a later date.
Nadine Lois Vander Hamm Foley was born in Sioux County, Iowa area and the Ireton area on October 4, 1934 to Lorenz and Ila (Houlton) Vander Hamm. She graduated from the Ireton High School in May 1952.
On November 12, 1952, she married Merle Popma in her parents’ home. To this marriage came three children. Gregory L Popma (Dawn) of Yankton, South Dakota, Lynn Popma (Becky) of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Dawn Kruse (Ed) of Scotland, South Dakota. They farmed nine miles north of Scotland for many years and had a dairy farm. In the 1970’s they bought the Scotland Café. August 5, 1980, she married Dennis Foley in Scotland, South Dakota. In time, they sold the café and built a Craft Shop called the Beaver Bungalow.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses; three step-children, Michael Foley (Tami) Dallas Center, Iowa, Janice Nelson (Jeff) of Centerville, South Dakota, and Timothy Foley (Teri) of Las Vegas, Nevada; nine grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Charlene Rhodes (Russ) of Destin, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Chalma Olson, brother, Charles, her husband, Dennis, step-son, Michael and great-grandsons, Jace.
