Milo Emil Sayler was born on Saturday, September 16, 1939 on the family farm near Menno. His parents were Emil Ludwig and Anna (Nusz) Sayler.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Reformed Faith, and attended Zeeb Country School through the 8th grade. He was raised on the family farm with his older sister, Irene (Sayler) Quast, and cousins Roy and Richard Kludt, who were like brothers to him. Milo was married to Dorothy Ann Mueller on November 15, 1959 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Menno. Milo farmed on the family farm. While farming was his livelihood, the blacksmith shop that he operated was his life. He owned and operated Sayler Welding and Manufacturing, and working in his shop both day and night was his passion. He was very gifted, fabricating and repairing any type of blacksmith challenge and loved to invent and build things. Milo enjoyed hunting and was an avid gun collector. He had a love for dogs, especially his beloved “Snoopy.” Due to his many health problems, he became a resident of the Menno-Olivet Care Center in 1996. He enjoyed watching Westerns on television and reading books by Louis L’Amour. Milo passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center in Menno at the age of 70 years and 28 days.
Milo is survived by his former wife, Dorothy Sayler, of Yankton; three children: Terry (Kristy) Sayler of Yankton, Robin (Roger) Neth of Scotland and Sandra (Peter) Holahan of Jupiter, Florida; a son-in-law, Darrell (Tiffany) Kortan of Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren: Matthew Sayler, Mark Sayler, Carissa Sayler, Staci Ann Kortan, Kristin Neth, Kellyn Neth, and Michael Holahan; seven step-grandchildren: Nichole (Jeremy) Smithers, Shawn Osborn, Maj. Sean (Jasmine) Holahan USAF, Kelly (Scott) Tyner, Brittany Kortan, Brock Kortan and Kobe Kortan; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irene, of the Menno-Olivet Care Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Anna Sayler; his cousins Roy and Richard Kludt, and a brother-in-law, Raymond Quast.  In 1988, a car accident claimed the lives of his daughter, Kelly Ann, and his granddaughters Nicole Lynn Sayler, Jennifer Ann Kortan, and Ashli Ann Kortan.
