Martha Mae Novak, age 87 of Tyndall, passed away May 13, 2021 at Good Samaritan Society, Tyndall.
Martha was born in rural Batesland, South Dakota to Emanuel and Kathryne (Younker) Yekel. Martha was married in Fort Knox, Kentucky and from this union, was blessed with six children.
Martha enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, crafting and farm life. She also enjoyed western shows and listening to music. Most of all Martha enjoyed her grandchildren.
Martha was a faithful member of St. Leo Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. For many years she was a 4-H leader in the community.
Martha is survived in death by her daughter Kathy (Jim) Hornstra, Springfield, SD, daughter Arleen (Mark) Willoughby, Beatrice, NE, daughter Marlene (Loren) Buchholz, Tripp, SD, son John (Maureen) Novak, Gillette, WY, son Gerald (Kristine) Novak, Martin, SD and son Thomas (Helen) Novak, Yankton, SD; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild (on the way); sister Ester (Steve) Krisvold, Elk Mound, WI and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emanuel and Kathryne; two brothers, Ed (Jane) Yekel, Medford, OR and Don Yekel, rural Gordon, NE; one sister Shirley (Bob) Heines, rural Martin, SD and one child in infancy.
