Marjorie Ann Novotny was born on March 13, 1930 to Emil and Helen (Chyba) Swatek in Tabor, South Dakota. On October 30, 1951, she was united in marriage to Alfred Novotny at St. Leo Catholic Church in Tyndall. For 10 years she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. before working at Dale Electronics in Yankton for 23 years.
She was an active member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Tyndall. She served in the Altar Society as well as a communion minister for home-bound congregants. She was a member of the Simek-Ptak VFW Post #6895 Auxiliary.
Marjorie passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society of Tyndall having attained the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 22 days.
She is survived and remembered by her children: Mona (Ed) Wilson of Chino Valley, AZ, Anita (Melvin) Turner of Hawthorne, CA, and Theodore (Kathleen) Novotny of Malverne, NY; grandchildren: Jennifer, Nick, Matthew, Marcus, and Catherine; and great-grandchildren: Mia and Kiera.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant son Patrick John Novotny, and brother Ernest Swatek.
