Lyle Larson, age 91 of Yankton, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Sr. James Care Center in Yankton.
Lyle Hans Larson, 91, of Yankton, SD died at Avera Majestic Bluffs on July 27, 2024. He was called to Heaven by his beloved wife, Doris, on her birthday.
Lyle was born on March 13, 1933 in Hurley, SD to Lovina (Hansen) and Marius Larson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Spring Valley Lutheran Church in rural Viborg, SD. Lyle attended grade school at Parker, Hurley and Davis, SD. He then went onto Hurley High School, where he graduated in 1952. There, he met Doris M. Jensen, and they married on June 24, 1954. To this union, three daughters were born: Kimala, Tamara and Kellie.
Lyle farmed for 16 years before moving to Viborg, where he worked for Farmers Hybrid. Then in 1973, the family moved to Yankton where Lyle and Doris owned Fensel Motel. Two years later, they bought Larson’s Mobile Village, which they owned for 22 years.
Lyle loved spending time with his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye when he told his favorite stories. Some of his fondest memories include camping with his friends and family. Throughout his life, he enjoyed making, repairing and buying toy machinery; fishing and snowmobiling and tinkering around the house and in his shop.
Lyle is survived by his daughters, Tamera Wadsworth and Kellie (Tom) Holmstrom; grandchildren, Mason (Amanda) and Mitchell Mueller, Kiah, Wyatt and Keagan Holmstrom; great-grandchildren, Weston, Madison and Blakely Mueller, all of Yankton; brother, Burdette (Ilze) of Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Carl (Bev) Jensen of Canistota, SD and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Doris; infant daughter, Kimala; parents; grandparents; brothers, Kenneth (Jeanne) and Merton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Delores (Leo) Larsen, Ardell (Clinton) Davis and Mary Jensen.
There will be a private burial service for Lyle and Doris at Spring Valley Lutheran Cemetery. Blessed be their memories.
Lyle’s family would like to thank the nurses, CNAs and staff at Avera Majestic Bluffs for their wonderful care over the past four years.
