Luana was born to Otto “Swede” and Helen Pierson on November 2, 1948 in Mitchell, SD. She graduated from Mitchell High School and attended Dakota Wesleyan University, leading to a successful career in real estate.
A classic love story that even Hollywood would have difficulty replicating, Luana met and married the love of her life, Mags W. Frederiksen in Mitchell on October 26, 1979. Luana and Mags met as co-workers and became bonded through the love of dance, as the dynamic duo became regional champions at various dance competitions. An accomplished musician in her own right, one of her favorite pastimes was listening to Mags play guitar and sing her the sweetest of love songs.
In 1982, the family moved from Mitchell to Yankton. Luana was a professional Real Estate Associate Broker for 28 years in the Yankton community and retired in 2010. Luana was an extremely caring and loving wife, mother and friend to all who knew her. She loved her family, friends and doted on her grandchildren with every opportunity. She treasured every moment with her children and grandchildren, making the most of every minute spent with them. Luana enjoyed cooking, was always active, and enjoyed playing softball and golf. Luana’s infectious smile and laugh will forever be remembered. Luana was the star of the show, the life of any party, the well-deserved center of attention and will be missed by all.
Luana is preceded in passing by her parents, Otto “Swede” and Helen Pierson; her brother, Dennis R. Pierson; her sister-in-law, Linda and nephew, Carl Pierson. She leaves behind her husband, Mags; her children, Gina (Neal) and Clint; her brother, Wes (Sherry) Pierson, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
