Lester Merlin Tesky was born on Wednesday, January 31, 1940 near Tripp, South Dakota in Hutchinson County. His parents were Henry and Emma (Weisser) Tesky. He attended school to the 8th grade southwest of Tripp. He lived at home on the farm and helped with the farming and also worked at the Co-op in Tripp. He was in the Army National Guard for several years. Lester married Louise Friederich at Tripp. She worked at Hinks Café for some time, until they moved to Wyoming. They both managed two four-plexes and Lester worked in the coalmines for many years. Following Louise’s death, Lester was remarried to Helen Garrison and they lived in Wyoming for several years. Lester retired and moved back to Tripp in 1994. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Due to heart problems, strokes and later Alzheimer’s and dementia, Lester was hospitalized at the Human Services Center in Yankton. He passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2010, having attained the age of 70 years, 2 months and 1 day.
Lester is survived by two sisters: Ruby (Tesky) Batterman of Tripp, Agnes (Tesky) Kriz of Tyndall; a step-brother, Alvin Tesky of Newburg, Oregon and a step-sister, Leona Hix of Newburg, Oregon.
In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise, a sister, Marcella Tesky, a step-brother, Ervin Tesky, and three infant siblings.
