Leona Kreber was born on October 23, 1923 to Frank and Emily (Cwach) Hacecky in Yankton, South Dakota. On February 3, 1942, she was united in marriage to Levoyd Kreber at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton. Together they made their home on a farm by the Lewis and Clark lake east of Springfield. Levoyd passed away on June 9, 2001, and shortly after, in 2002, Leona moved into Tyndall.
Leona loved playing cards, putting puzzles together, and watching movies. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially all types of desserts. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Through the years, Leona was a member of St. Leo’s Altar Society, St. Michael’s Hospital Auxiliary, Good Samaritan Society Guild, and the Highland Pinochle Club.
Leona passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society of Tyndall having attained the age of 93 years, 7 months, and 22 days.
She is survived and remembered by her children: Karen (Les) Kalda, Mike Kreber, and Pat (Gary) Mount; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother Milton Hacecky; and dear friends, Sandy Kreber and Mabel Winningham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Steven Kreber on December 26, 1972, brothers Frank and Leland Hacecky, and sisters: Van Smolik, Margaret Fullencamp, and Elsie Kaiser.
