John J. Pringle was born on Monday, March 23, 1931 in Butler County, Kansas to Henry M. and Nina (Johnson) Pringle. In 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 15 and served with the 11th Airborne in Occupied Japan. John was united in marriage to Dorice Standley on November 8, 1947 at Reno, Nevada. Following the completion of his military service in 1950, they lived in Kansas. In 1954, they moved to California where John was the plant manager for the Jorgenson Steel Company for 42 years. After his retirement in 1997, they made their home near Tyndall and moved into Tyndall in 2003. John was a 32° Mason of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Eastern Star. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In his spare time, John enjoyed woodworking and especially enjoyed making silhouette ornaments. He passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the Avera Yankton Care Center, having attained the age of 78 years, 3 months and 13 days.
John’s memory will be cherished by his wife of over 60 years, Dorice, of Tyndall; a daughter, Janice Pringle of Morgan Hill, California; a son, Patrick Pringle and fiancé Jean Sanders of Rochester, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Jennifer (Justin) Carlin, Rebekah Pringle and Ian Pringle; and two great-grandchildren: Alexander and Jasmine Carlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Nina Pringle, and a sister, June.
