Jerry Donald Bender was born on Friday, April 17, 1936 at Tripp, South Dakota to George and Helena (Keller) Bender. He attended school through the 8th grade in Tripp. Jerry was united in marriage to Betty Hirsch on July 28, 1964 at Hartington, Nebraska and they made their home in Tripp. Working on cars was Jerry’s passion and he did mechanic work throughout his life. He loved to be around people and enjoyed visiting with them. Jerry entered the Good Samaritan Society of Tripp on May 20, 2004 and it is there that he passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2010, having attained the age of 74 years, 1 month and 12 days.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Betty Bender of Tripp; a son, Terry (Cheryl) Bender of Tea; and a daughter, Sheila (Ray) Poirier of Lennox.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by nine siblings.
