Jerald "Jerry" Glenn Nelson

Jerald "Jerry" Nelson age 76 of Scotland, died Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Goglin Funeral Home in Scotland. A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m.

Jerald Glenn Nelson, was born May 11, 1946 to Maynard and Kathleen (Bainbridge) Nelson in Yankton, SD. He received a BS in Ag Business/Horticultural at SDSU in Brookings and Southeast Tech in Sioux Falls.

Jerry married Mary Van Driel Brown August 20, 2011 in Scotland. He worked as an insurance adjustor. Jerry was a member of Paul Grossheusch VFW Post 2966 and served on the Scotland City Council. He enjoyed golfing and gardening.

Jerry was described as a quiet, gentle, dependable, thoughtful, special man. Jerry’s personal wish will be granted, that his body be donated to the University of South Dakota Body Donation Program for the education of health care professionals.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary; sisters, Jeanette (John) Lisbeth, Marlys (Don) Wasmund and Mary (Rick) Lingberg; step-children, Mark Brown, Carrie (Troy) Kruger, Craig Brown and Gary (Holly) Brown Jr.; step-grandchildren, Carly, Cassidy, Katie and Allie; step-great-grandson, Sawyer; nieces, Sara, Kristine, Heather, Terese, Julie and Katherine; nephews, Adam, Josh, Jeff and Matthew and many special cousins.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Maynard; mom, Kathleen; brother, David Nelson and sister-in-law, Karen Nelson.
