Janice Ann (Thennis) Cihak was born on December 13, 1951 to Virgil and Ida (Lilly) Thennis in Webster, South Dakota. On May 9th, 1968, she had her first born son, Troy Thennis. On October 17, 1971, she was united in marriage to Jay Jiran and to this union her second son was born, Jay Christopher. They were later divorced.
Janice met and married the love of her life, Garry Cihak on April 8, 1989. Not only did she gain a step-son, Brian Cihak, but had her last child, Kyle Cihak. Garry and Janice resided in Kaylor until they moved into Yankton to better care for her illness. At times, she would work outside the home.
Janice enjoyed sewing, knitting, playing cards, watching Westerns, crossword puzzles, and visiting with friends. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family.
Janice passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD having attained the age of 66 years.
She is survived and remembered by her loving husband of 29 years, Garry Cihak of Yankton, SD; children: Troy (Steph) Thennis of Santiago, Chile, Jay C. (Tamya) Jiran of Ingram, TX, and Kyle (Miriam) Cihak of Sioux Falls, SD; step-son Brian (Katy) Cihak of Springfield, SD; 6 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister Marie DeVries; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded into death by her parents and brother Robbie Thennis.
