James Harold Bjornebo

James Bjornebo, age 88 of Madison, SD passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Madison Regional Health System in Madison. No formal services will be held. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Please send condolences to Donna Bjornebo, 210 W Center ST, Apt. 204 Madison SD 57042. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to the Trondhjem Cemetery fund in Volin.

James Harold Bjornebo was born April 21, 1936 to Ruth and Hans Bjornebo in rural Volin, SD. He attended country school through the eighth grade. James married Donna Lee Jacobson, March 21, 1958 in Volin. James serviced in the US Army, farmed and drove truck for Stuelpangel’s for 30 years. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed fishing, baseball and antiquing. 

James is survived by his wife of 66 years, Donna Bjornebo; children, Karen (Curt) Larsen, Sonya (Jerry) Mikel and Jeff Bjornebo; grandchildren, Tess Ensworth, Kevin Keegan, Kyle Keegan, Maggie Andera, Katie Geppert, Willy Larsen, Rachel, Jacob, Anna and Emily Bjornebo; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Gustad.

James was preceded in death by his father, Hans Bjornebo and mother, Ruth Bjornebo (Freng).
