Gerald Orin Peterson

Gerald O. "Jerry" Peterson, born April 6, 1956, was called to heaven on August 31, 2018 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD at the age of 62 years, 4 months, and 25 days. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 6 at 3:00 p.m. (with visitation the hour prior) at Goglin Funeral Home in Yankton.
Jerry was born to Marvin Peterson, Sr. and Patricia Kassube in Deadwood, SD. He grew up in South Dakota and Montana. He served a short time in the Army National Guard at Yankton and worked several jobs through the years, including: Stuelpnagels, Cimpls, Mission Hill Grain Elevator, and various other farming occupations. He especially loved doing work for his good friends, Pat and Pearl Lyons.
Jerry had a passion for gardening. Westerns, both reading the novels and watching the movies, were a favorite pastime as well. He was always willing to lend a hand to whomever needed it, and enjoyed visiting with family and friends, always with a joke to tell.
Jerry will be greatly missed by his siblings and friends. Brothers: Sonny Peterson, Tucson, AZ; Rick Peterson, Tucson, AZ; Jesse Peterson, New Town, ND; Clifford (Jolene) Peterson, Mandaree, ND.  Sisters: Delores (Dallas) Roadifer, Rapid City, SD; Rita Peterson, Yankton, SD; Phyllis (Hugh) Luark, Yankton, SD; Cindy (Richard) Kennedy, Volin, SD; Melinda Memelle, Omaha, NE; Brenda (David) Luebbe, Milford, NE; Anna Marie (Gary) Grimm, Omaha, NE. Several nieces and nephews. He was a devoted guardian/father to Donald Crump. He will also be missed by his special friend, Cheryl Snoozy and his beloved pet, Baby Dog.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Blake, step-father, Roy Blake, and siblings Matthew and Elaine Peterson.
