George Verzani, a resident of Scotland, SD, formerly of Tripp, passed away on March 11, 2025.

A funeral service will be held, 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 21 at Friedens Reformed Church in Tripp. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Friedens Reformed Church Cemetery.

George was born to William and Florence Verzani in Sioux City, Iowa on October 21, 1939. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Los Angeles and went on to work as an accountant for Lockheed Aeronautics for many years.

George entered the Air National Guard in 1957 at Sargent Bluff, IA. He fulfilled his 6 years contract in 1963.

George enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, biking and especially golf. He married Lois Furney on February 14, 1997. She preceded him in death on September 6, 2020.

He is survived by 2 sons, Craig and Lawrence Verzani; his sister, Marcy Groetken; step-children, Troy Furney, Trent Furney, Teresa Wilson, Tim Furney and Tomas Furney; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

George is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; daughter, Jennine; sister, Ann Hansen; and brothers, Joseph, John and Gregory.
