Gar’s Great-Grandchildren
Garlan “Gar” Edgar Mueller of Tripp, S.D. passed peacefully on August 25, 2016. He was born in Johnston, Iowa on August 7, 1946 to two loving parents, Edgar and Luverna Mueller. He shared his childhood with his sister, Donna Thune, of whom he was always playing pranks on. They shared a special bond. Some of his favorite times were spent with his parents and sister singing together in harmony.
Throughout his life, Gar was a sports fanatic. He prided himself on hard work, dedication and always trying to do it right the first time. His heart was with the Denver Broncos and the Minnesota Twins. “Let the flags fly high!”
His greatest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved teaching them how to ride bikes, fish and simply sitting around the fire pit “telling lies and swatting flies.”
He married the love of his life, Betty Jean Ruth, on December 30, 1983. They were inseparable and shared a love like no other.
Gar enjoyed the simple life. He spent leisure time playing pool, shooting darts and playing cards. He was a wicked pinochle player trying to “shoot the moon” with every hand, even when sometimes he shouldn’t have.
He will be remembered as someone who worked hard, loved the farm life and took the time for anyone and everyone.
Those who loved him and shared his life are his wife, Betty Jean Ruth, his children: Michelle (Wes) Burggraff; Shawn Mueller; Mark (Adam Walker) Mueller; Tami Haiar (special friend Darin Krogman); Doug (Jean) Werning; Michelle (Kelly) Krueger; and Wendy (Greg) Lacey, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will also be deeply missed by his side kick, companion and shadow – Molly B.
Gar was a straight shooter and always said “Make it your own or don’t make it at all.”
Grandpa Gar, your love will never be forgotten. You will always be an “ace in the hole and a hat trick” in our book.
