Gail Marie Huether was born on Wednesday, January 13, 1943 to Elmer and Irene (Mettler) Kludt in San Diego, California. She attended Harmony Grove Elementary School in Lodi, CA and graduated Lodi High School in 1961. She attended Humphrey Business College for book-keeping. On May 29, 1965, Gail was united in marriage to Curtis Huether in Lodi. In 1972, they moved onto a farm in rural Parkston, South Dakota where she performed the many duties of a farmwife. Gail loved taking care of children and for a time ran a day care from her home and later helped with the day care centers in Tripp and Parkston. Many of her children, family, and friends enjoyed her great baking skills, especially her kuchen and caramel rolls. She also worked in Parkston at the Golden Touch and Ampride. Gail was an active member of Frieden’s Reformed Church in Tripp where she served as a Sunday and Bible School teacher, a member of the Christian Education Committee, and in the Frieden’s Women’s Guild.
Gail died on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at St. Benedict’s Hospital in Parkston, South Dakota having attained the age of 71 years, 7 months, and 17 days.
