Frieda K. Dvorak was born on September 17, 1922 to Friedrich and Katherina (Kraemer) Rembold in Kaylor, South Dakota. She attended Kaylor Elementary School through the 8th grade. On March 29, 1941, she was united in marriage to Alvin John Dvorak at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Scotland, South Dakota.
Frieda was a devoted, hardworking German farmwife and housewife. She helped her husband with the dairy cows, farming several acres on the tractor, doing chores, and then going to the house to make large meals including a pie for dessert. She loved working outdoors, preferring that over housework but in the home she was meticulous with cleaning and was an excellent cook. She loved baking and was known for her great cakes and pies, especially her angel food cake for church events. Frieda worked 24/7 at home and the farm and she did it well.
In her early years, Frieda was very jovial and had a great sense of humor. She loved funny stories and often shared them with her younger sister, Alvira. She also enjoyed playing the guitar and piano. Many Saturday nights, she would sit down to sing and play the guitar for her two young boys. She was active in her church at St. John Lutheran in Kaylor and later at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Tripp.
Frieda passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Avera St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston, South Dakota having attained the age of 96 years, 5 months, and 5 days.
She is survived and remembered by her sons: DeLyle (Pat) Dvorak and Allen (Maree) Dvorak; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin in 1985, infant brother Lorenz Rembold, and sisters: Edwin, Aurelia, and Alvira.
