Francis August (Fran) Rokusek was born Saturday, August 22, to John and Emma (Blaha) Rokusek at Olivet, South Dakota. He attended Pleasant Hill Grade School through the 8th grade. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in June, 1951. Francis was united in marriage to Florence Mayer on November 20, 1951 in Dimock, South Dakota. They farmed northwest of Olivet until his retirement in 1994. He continued to live on his farm until his death. He was a member of St. George Catholic Church his entire life. He served as a Mass server for 17 years, was a member of the Parish Council and usher for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and member of the Wittenberg Township Board.  Francis died with his family at his side on October 27, 2009 at Freeman Regional Health Services in Freeman, South Dakota at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 5 days.
Francis’ memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 58 years, Florence, of rural Olivet; his six children: Agnes Rokusek of Sioux Falls, Allen Rokusek of Bargersville, Indiana, Steve (Connie) Rokusek of Oakland, Nebraska, Diane Schnabel of Freeman, Joey (Janet) Rokusek of Sioux Falls, and Sheri (Steve) Preszler of rural Menno; eight grandchildren: Josh and Justin Rokusek of Sioux Falls, Tracey and Travis Schnabel of Freeman, Matthew and Caleb Preszler of rural Menno, and Stephanie and Courtnie Rokusek of Oakland, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Emma Rokusek, a brother, Jack, and a son-in-law, Corey Schnabel.
