Eldon M Ochsner was born December 4, 1927 in rural Hutchinson County to Fredrick (Bill) and Martha (Reister) Ochsner. Eldon attended country school and graduated from Scotland High. He married Marlene Schneider (Ted and Linda Schneider) on February 16, 1958. Eldon and Marlene farmed three miles north of Scotland, moving into town for retirement. Here he continued to read the Hereford newsletters and keep track of farming trends. His favorite channel was RFD TV, where he could watch farm sales, rodeos, polka and big band music. Eldon loved history and recalled facts with incredible accuracy. He enjoyed long drives through the country looking at the crops, meeting and talking to new people, along with telling them stories of his life. Eldon was proud of his country and the time he served in Labrador during the Korean War. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, serving many years as Sunday school teacher and also on the church council. He had even been in the church choir and to the end, continued to sing his favorite songs.
Eldon is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Marty) Munkvold, Tea, SD; son, Robert Ochsner, Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Abby (Joel) Gullickson, Harrisburg, SD and Evan Munkvold, Tea, SD, and his brother Ken Ochsner, Kaylor, SD.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; daughter, Laura; his parents; in-laws; brothers, Myron and Norman Ochsner and sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Ken) Ochsner and Arlys Schneider.
