Eldon Emil Schneider was born on Tuesday, May 5, 1925 to Emil and Mary (Wiederrich) Schneider. He graduated from Tripp High School in 1943. Eldon served in the Army during WWII, and served in the European Theater of Operations. He was united in marriage to Doris Haeffner on February 1, 1949 in Frieden’s Reformed Church in Tripp. They farmed south of Tripp until moving into Tripp in 1993. Eldon served on school boards including country school and Tripp School, and was on the Board of Directors for AMPI and the Bon Homme County REA. He was a member of Frieden’s Reformed Church and the Tripp American Legion. His favorite pastimes included bowling, playing golf and spending time at coffee with his friends. Eldy passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society of Tripp at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 5 days.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Doris Schneider of Tripp; four daughters: Patricia (Dan) Pietz of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Pamela (Gary) Kludt of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Paula (Richard) Dayton of Iowa City, Iowa, and Joan (Dean) Dreessen of Freeman, South Dakota; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Amyra Dayton; two sisters: Alice Haeffner and Lucille (Clarence) Eisenbraun, all of Tripp; and one brother, Dewayne Schneider of Tripp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Peggy, and a brother, Donald.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established, and will be directed to the Good Samaritan Society of Tripp and the Alzheimer's Foundation.
