Doris was born to Anna and Edward Lehr on June 20, 1930. She was baptized on July 20, 1930 and confirmed on July 2, 1944 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Tripp, SD. She lived in rural Tripp on the family farm through her school days. She was united in marriage to Vern Goehring on November 4, 1948. They started their married life on a farm just north of Delmont and were blessed with two sons, Terry and Tom. They remained on the farm until 1978 when they built a new home and moved into Delmont.
Vern continued to farm and Doris started to enjoy some time for herself. She loved to quilt, crochet, cross stitch, needlepoint, sew and babysit her grandkids. Vern and Doris also enjoyed golfing, playing cards with friends, dancing, and traveling, especially in their RV. Over the years, they would travel in their RV to many different locations, making good memories and lots of new friends. Later they decided to purchase a second home in Texas, where they would winter for up to six months of the year. In 2015, a tornado took their house in Delmont and with declining health, they moved to Countryside Living in Mitchell, SD. When Vern died in 2018, Doris moved into Brady Nursing Home for few months, before going to Bormann Manor in Parkston, where she lived out her remaining years. She died there on Friday, June 24, 2022 at the age of 92.
