Dolores Lillian Broz was born on March 23, 1930 to Reinold and Ella Susan (Hauck) Frank in Scotland, South Dakota. After a sweet courtship with a smitten George R. Broz, they were united in marriage on June 12, 1949. Together they made their lifelong home on the Broz farm 5 miles south of Tyndall. Dolores’ lifelong vocation and proudest accomplishment was raising her 6 children. As a farmwife, Dolores helped her husband by raising Leghorn chickens and selling their eggs to the local grocery store and hospital. With 6 little ones running around and a farm to maintain, the Broz home was a busy household, yet the very diligent, organized Dolores kept a tight-ship. As the children grew older, Dolores would help at the Valkering flower shop during the spring.
Throughout her life, Dolores enjoyed gardening, embroidery, and playing pinochle. She also loved to dance polka and waltz at the events her husband, with the Tyndall Accordion Club, would play at. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church and ZCBJ in Tyndall.
Dolores was a kind, loving, caring, and cheerful woman. In honor of her 75th birthday, Dolores, her close friends, daughters, and daughters-in-law made a special trip to Sioux Falls. The intent was to spend time shopping and eating out, but as time passed they rather enjoyed each other’s company. Precious memories were made as together they relaxed at the hotel, eating pizza in the room, sharing glasses of wine, and laughing. Dolores life and legacy is one full of fun times and years of warm laughter.
Dolores fell asleep in Jesus on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society of Tyndall having attained the age of 86 years, 9 months, and 19 days.
She is survived and remembered by her husband of 67 years George Broz of Tyndall; daughters: Nancy (Bob) Rothschadl of Tyndall, Diane Broz of Prescott Valley, AZ, Judy (Dan) Fleming of Elk Point, SD, and Kathy (Howard) Hight of Mitchell, SD; sons: Ron (Sharon) Broz of Tyndall and Kevin (Alvina) Broz of Willard, MO; grandsons: Scott Rothschadl, Chris Broz, Brooks Scofield, Daniel Fleming, Lance Fleming, Jacob Broz, and Travis Colbert; granddaughters: Kim Brown, Stacie Wagner, Corinna Diggins, Kelli Scofield, Tia Pistone, Chelsea Tovar, and Julie Jensen; 17 great-grandchildren; and honorary sister and dear friend Peggy Melmer of Mitchell. She was preceded into Heaven by her parents, a sister, an infant brother, and numerous other relatives.
