Dennis Emil Pecka was born on Monday, August 3, 1931, in Lawton, North Dakota to Emil and Anna (Dritinia) Pecka. He attended country school through the 8th grade. Dennis was united in marriage to Maxine Starr on January 5, 1966. He worked construction in his early years and spent most of his working years as the superintendent of public works for the City of Tyndall. He was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge of Tyndall. Dennis was very handy and liked to fix things, especially lawnmowers and other small engines. He was a hard-working but easy-going man. He liked to drive and go for rides and he liked to collect items like Dalmation dogs and little tractors. He enjoyed being outdoors in good weather and loved to fish. Dennis liked company, and especially loved gatherings and the delicious holiday meals at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Dennis passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society of Scotland, having attained the age of 81 years, 9 months and 30 days.
Grateful for sharing Dennis’ life are his wife of 47 years, Maxine, of Tyndall; two daughters: Karen (Myron) Zwanziger of Springfield and Michelle Lynn Pecka of Tyndall; four grandchildren: Tina (Jerry) Talsma, Tona (Ray) Zwanziger, Tory Zwanziger and Todd (Sherri) Zwanziger; four great-grandchildren: Hayden, Hensley, Victoria, and Kenzie; two brothers: Melvin (Vicki) Pecka of Grand Forks, North Dakota and Raymond (Gloria) Pecka of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a sister, Doris (Frank) Pesek of Lawton, North Dakota; and his special best friend, Allen Rehurek of Tyndall.
