Delphine Kokesh

Delphine Kokesh of Scotland, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society – Scotland. She was 100 years old.

A private family service will be held at a later date, with interment in St. George Catholic Cemetery.

Delphine was born 2½ miles north of Tabor, South Dakota to parents, Jim and Tillie (Souhrada) Cuka on July 12, 1923. Delphine attended Grail Country School for 8 years, graduating from Tabor High School in 1941. She graduated from Mount Marty
with a teaching certificate. Delphine taught country school for 6 years and in the summer of those years still helped out on her parents’ farm.

Married Raymond Kokesh October 5, 1948. They farmed west of Scotland for over 50 years. Two sons were born, Dennis and Eugene.

She is survived by one son, Eugene and his wife, Mary of Scotland; daughter-in-law, Marilyn of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren, Scott and Chad of Scotland, Stephanie of California, Desiree and Molly, also of Denver and three great-grandchildren.

Delphine was preceded in death by husband, Raymond in 1999; son, Dennis in 1999; also one grandson, Ryan in 1980.
