Dean Clarence Meyers

September 11, 1931 — November 3, 2017

Dean Clarance Meyers was born on November 9, 1931 to Eugene Peter and Velma Elizabeth (Nelson) Meyers in Yankton, South Dakota.
On February 14, 1952, he was united in marriage to Elva Kozak and two children were born to this union: Arletta and Colleen.
Dean owned his own contracting and concrete business. Through the years, he built numerous homes around the Yankton area, including four for his own family members. In the 1950s, he assisted in the building of the Gavins Point Dam. He also worked as a foreman for the building of the dormitories, cafeteria, and Dome for the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. If it needed fixing, Dean could fix it.
In his sparetime, he loved fishing, hunting, and stock cars. Since his childhood, he grew up on the Missouri and James River. Dean passed his skills along by teaching his grandson Justin all his fishing tricks and secrets to catching big fish. He also had an eagle eye at seeing pheasants and shooting.
Dean passed away at home in Yankton surrounded by his family on Friday, November 3, 2017.
Dean loved and cared for his family immensely. Those who will cherish his memory forever are his wife of 65 years, Elva Elsie Meyers of Yankton, SD; daughter Arletta Kaye Zoss and husband, Buck, of Yankton, SD; daughter Colleen Kim Meyers of Yankton, SD; granddaughters: Kristi Kaye Patton and Kaylee Jo Zoss; grandson Justin Dean Meyers; great-grandson Walker Zoss; sister Sherlene Van Hoozen of Constance, NE; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack Meyers, and infant twin siblings.
