David Patrick Giedd was a man who left a lasting impact on all those who knew him. Born in Tyndall, South Dakota, on March 17, 1951, he brought joy and laughter to those around him throughout his 72 years of life.
Affectionately known as "Crazy Dave," David's memory will be forever cherished by his loved ones. His children from his first marriage, Tanna Lyon of Brighton, CO and Shawn (Tony) Harris-Giedd of Beresford, SD and his beloved granddaughter Emersyn, he showered with love and care. His second marriage to Lovell Giedd in 2010 brought even more happiness and love into his life, creating a warm and welcoming home in Yankton, SD.
David's infectious smile, laughter, and genuine care for people endeared him to all who crossed his path. Whether he was fixing things for others, tending to his garden, or sharing stories with anyone willing to listen, he lived a life filled with kindness and generosity. His love for treasure hunting and knack for fixing anything, made him a go-to person in the community.
The holiday season will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew David, as he lit up the neighborhood with his elaborate Christmas light displays. His enthusiasm for life, unwavering work ethic, and love for his family, will forever be remembered.
As we bid farewell to David, we mourn the loss of a vibrant soul but take solace in the memories and impact he left behind. His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
The world is going to be a much quieter place unfortunately, and that is going to leave a void unlike any other. He truly will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Colleen Vavruska.
