Dagny Stevenson

Dagny Alvida Holm was born to Claus and Eli (Johnson) Holm on January 24, 1923 near Lesterville, SD. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and later confirmed at "the Stone Church," Our Savior's Lutheran Church, of rural Menno, SD. She graduated the 8th grade from Cass Country School west of Scotland, SD, then headed into the work place, first at home then at a local grocery store.
On March 1, 1943, Dagny was united in marriage to Roland Duane Reiser. Together they owned and operated Reiser Bar in Scotland. In the late 1950's she worked at Harborts Bar in Yankton. Roland passed away at the age of 41 years on October 18, 1959.
On January 8, 1961, Dagny was united in marriage to Hugh Fraley Stevenson at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Scotland. Hugh owned and operated the Scotland Oil Co. until retirement in 1978. Dagny loved to cook, bake, and keep her house. She was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Scotland and their Ladies Aid. Hugh and Dagny were inseparable, truly enjoying their time together. They loved to travel in their Airstream and wintered in Texas for over 20 years. Hugh passed away at the age of 97 years on January 30, 2015.
Dagny passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society of Scotland at the age of 94 years, 9 months, and 18 days.
Preceding Dagny in death were her parents, her husbands, and her siblings: Edith Evenson, Helga Swenson, Signe Novak, Helmer Holm, George Holm, Hans Holm, and Leif Holm.
Memories will be cherished by her nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
