Cynthia "Cindy" K. Peterson

Cynthia (Cindy) K. (Simek) Peterson went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall, SD.
Cindy was born on November 18, 1956 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyndall, Bon Homme County, SD to Mabel G. (Anderson) Simek and Adam R. Simek of rural Tyndall.
She was raised on a farm four miles north and 3.5 miles east of Tyndall, SD. Cindy attended Clear Lake country school from K-6th grade. Starting with the 7th grade, she attended town school in Tyndall, from which she later graduated in May 1975.
In June 1975, she met the "love of her life," Lloyd E. Peterson of rural Lesterville, SD. They got married on April 29, 1976 and resided on a farm between Tyndall and Scotland, SD. Lloyd was employed at CR Industries in Springfield where Cindy later joined him. Later, they bought a home in Avon, SD where they have resided all these years.
Cindy worked at CR Industries for 28 years and left during its closing. She then worked for Truxedo in Yankton for 11 years.
Cindy was many things to many people. She was a wife, a mother, a sister, an aunt, a confidant, a daughter, a grandmother, a Godmother, a cook, a housekeeper, a teacher, an advocate for her son, a neighbor and friend to many. She worked a full time job yet also had a garden over the years and did a lot of home canning. She enjoyed playing cards and other games with friends and family and loved watching movies. She was a caretaker for her father, Adam Simek, from 1980 through the time of his passing in 1995.
Cindy suffered from kidney cancer from April 2014 until her passing. She fought a hard and courageous battle. After four years battling renal cancer, she lost her earthly battle with cancer, but won her Heavenly walk with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Cindy will be dearly missed and her memory will live on by her husband, Lloyd and her three children and three grandchildren: daughter, Sarah (Peterson/Drysdale) (Cody Woizeski and daughter, Ella) of Rapid City, SD, daughter, Anna Peterson (daughter, Ashlee) of Yankton and son, Richard Peterson of Avon, SD (daughter, Aubrie of rural Yankton). Her memory will also live on through her siblings: Wallace Simek of Fayetteville, NC, Alta (Norville) Pontius of Magnolia, DE, Gloria (Ernie) Merkwan of Tabor, SD, Myron (Janet) Simek of Springfield, SD, Bruce (Beverly) Simek of rural Tyndall, SD, and Loretta Bierwagen (Larry Vogel) of Yankton and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and godchildren.
Cindy was preceded in death by: her parents, Adam and Mabel Simek; grandparents, George and Anna Simek and Emil and Ella Marek; father-in-law, Richard Peterson; numerous aunts and uncles; and her brother-in-law, Steve Merkwan.
We wish to thank everyone for all the love, kindness and moral support over the last four years, especially for these last few months when each and every hug and handshake meant more than words can ever express.
