Chassidy Lynn Bamsey

Chassidy Lynn Bamsey was born on Wednesday, October 7, 1987 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Lila Joyce (Jonnes) McKinnon and William Frazier Bamsey and step-mom, Monica Foxhoven. She grew up in Sioux Falls and attended Hawthorne Elementary School, Axtell Park Middle School and Lincoln High School. Chassidy moved to Yankton, South Dakota to explore new horizons and express herself in a new light. She was independent, strong-headed, and very opinionated, but loved by many. She loved to be the center of attention. Chassidy enjoyed writing poetry, learning about Native American culture, and had a soft heart for turtles, of which she had a collection of many. Chassidy was taken from her loved ones on Sunday, September 28, 2008 as a victim of a tragic incident.  She died nine days short of her twenty-first birthday.
Grateful for having shared Chassidy’s life are her parents, Lila McKinnon of Tyndall, South Dakota and William Bamsey and Monica Foxhoven, both of Yankton, South Dakota; a sister, Jennifer Armstrong and her fiancé, Jerry Kurtzhals, both of whom were lucky to have had Chassidy introduce them, of Yankton, South Dakota and their daughters: Kayshalyn, Adrianna, Makyah and Phoebe; a brother, Charles Bamsey and his special friend, Rosemary, of Tyndall, South Dakota and their daughter, Amanda; and grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and other very special relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her fiancé, Brian Vanwagner, who passed beside her and whom she was to marry the following day. She is also preceded by a handful of other family members.
