Charles Stanley Bares was born on a farm near Tabor, SD on February 12, 1931 to Tony and Anna Bares. He attended grade school in a one room school house and was a 1949 graduate of Tyndall High School. He served in the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and also served on the school board. Charlie was an active member of St. Leo’s Church in Tyndall all of his life.
On June 21,1955 he married Margaret Uhing in Bow Valley, NE. Together they farmed south of Tyndall until their retirement in 2009. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He beamed whenever his grandkids and great-grandkids came to see him!
Charlie had a great love for farming, especially caring for his livestock. He also loved polka music, Czech Days, dancing, playing cards, enjoying friends, and trying his luck at the casino, chocolate pie, chocolate cake, chocolate candy and apricot kolaches!
Charlie passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society-Tyndall at the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 8 days.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife Margaret, their three children: Bob (Linda) Bares of Tyndall, Carol (Jay) Romkema, Springfield and Tom (Janie) Bares of Tyndall. Seven grandchildren, Scott (Michele) Bares, Stacy (Nick) Huber, Lisa (Ben) Karsky, Kayla (Scott) Schnider, Brett (Emily) Romkema, Tony (Angie) Bares and Valerie Bares (David Reed). Ten great-grandchildren, Cole and Landon Bares, Tristan and Avery Huber, Bennett Karsky, Kaden and Sydney Schnider, Layton Romkema, Layne and Alli Bares, a sister, Mary Ann Cuka and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Anna Bares, sister, Mildred Herman, brothers-in-law, Andrew Becvar, Allen Cuka, and Ray Herman.
