Betty Wormsbecher, age 83, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Avera St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston.
Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 30 at Friedens Reformed Church in Tripp. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Andy Underhile officiating. Interment will be at Friedens Reformed Church Cemetery, Tripp.
Betty was born February 1, 1942 to Emil and Elsie (DeWald) Weisser in Wagner, SD, the third of five children. She grew up on a farm near Delmont. She completed 8th grade at Choteau Creek School near Delmont. Betty met her future husband, Harvey at the Tripp Fair. They were married October 2, 1960 in Delmont. Betty and Harvey farmed and raised lots of chickens (400 per summer), ducks, pigs and cows. She also kept busy with a huge garden. She was a member of Friedens Reformed Church, where she served on many committees and the Tripp VFW Auxiliary.
Betty always accompanied Harvey, a member of the Tyndall Accordion Club, when they performed in area nursing homes. They moved into Tripp in 1998, where Betty worked for 10 years in the laundry department of the Good Samaritan Center. Betty and Harvey enjoyed 57 years of marriage until his passing in October of 2017. Betty enjoyed listening to music, flowers, sewing, playing cards or board games with family and friends, reading and dining out.
Betty is survived by her sister, Diane (Marvin) Bauder of Tyndall; 2 sisters-in-law, Judy Weisser and JoLynn Wormsbecher; along with several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Elsie; husband, Harvey; brothers, Dale (Lora) and Darold; sister, Shirley Fuerst and several nieces and nephews.
