Ardith Arlene George passed away Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society of Tripp, conceding her battle with Alzheimers; she was 85.
Ardith was born to Arkanas and June Oickle September 8,1923 in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She worked in the textile manufacturing industry as a "spinner" in now historical mills such as Malden Mills of Massachusetts and Amoskeg Mills of New Hampshire and completed her working career until retirement with Velcro USA.
Ardith moved to Lesterville, South Dakota from Manchester, New Hampshire by way of Norfolk, Nebraska in 1989 and resided there close to her daughter and grandchildren until becoming a resident of the Good Samaritan Society of Tripp in March of 1997. She attended the Fellowship Baptist Church in Scotland officiated by Pastor Dan Flyger. She instilled beautiful memories in those blessed to have known her and she will be missed.
Ardith is survived by her daughter and only child, Trinity Ann McLeod Clark, of Yankton, South Dakota; Trinity’s partner and stepfather to her children, Greg Andersh, also of Yankton; and a brother, Kenneth Oickle of Haverhill, Massachusetts. Ardith has seven grandchildren: Shawn Demers of Phoenix, Arizona, Bruce Veneziani of Mission Hill, South Dakota, Kandas Veneziani of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Justine (Veneziani) Stokes of Gilbert, Arizona, Dallas J. McLeod (US Army stationed in Iraq) of Yankton, South Dakota, Desiree' (McLeod) Roberts of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Devon J. McLeod of South Dakota. Ardith’s great grandchildren number nine: Shawn Patrick and Hailly Demers of Phoenix, Arizona, Christian and Sierra Veneziani, Dallas Veneziani and Trinity Lee McLeod, all of South Dakota, Lola, Taylor and Zoe' Stokes of Gilbert, Arizona. She is also survived by special family friends Louise and Steve Erickson and children Steve and Fawnia of Lesterville, South Dakota.
Ardith is preceded in death by both parents Arkanas and June Oickle; brothers Charles, Reginald and Gordon Oickle; sister Marjorie Oickle; son-in-law Dallas E. McLeod and special adopted sister Marion Desautel.
A private prayer service was held on February 6th at the Good Samaritan Society of Tripp led by Pastor Dan Flyger of Hurley, with immediate family and staff of the Tripp Good Samaritan Center present. In lieu of cards, the family has requested gifts be given to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America in memory of Ardith Arlene George. Gifts to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America would be a tribute to Ardith and her family as well as contribute to the eradication of this terminal, debilitating disease. http://www.alzfdn.org.
